Renewables

The Nestlé factory near Newcastle that makes treats such as fruit pastilles, gums and 'Rolo's' is toasting sweet success after good first year results from its anaerobic disgestion plant which provides power from confectionary residues.

Renewable structures in the marine environment have been given a boost from the opening  of HR Wallingford's UK Ship Simulation Centre and the Fast Flow Facility at Howbery Business Park in Oxfordshire, officially opened by Lord Heseltine.

Full power output has been achieved more than two months ahead of schedule from West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind farm, a major renewable energy project which has been developed by DONG Energy and ScottishPower Renewables in the Irish Sea.

A new way to overcome the challenges of building renewables on beloved and extreme weather-prone places has been successfully trialled by the National Trust.
