remediation image 1Working Groups: The Heart of the EIA
 
EIA’s seven working groups are premier forums for industry collaboration:
 
• Remediation of Land and Groundwater: Tackles brownfield development, Remediation of land and Groundwater, from environmental consultancy to contractors and the regulator. Current topics include: Land remediation relief, PFAS, Hydrocarbons, asbestos in soil etc. Leading speakers attend from Government. This group collaborates with DEFRA, Environment Agency, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and other key stakeholders.
• Environmental Analysis and Testing: Represents leading UK laboratories, focusing on soil, water, air, and microplastics testing. Maintains strong ties with UKAS, BSI, and ISO. 
• Air Quality: Addresses both outdoor and indoor air pollution, promoting technologies and policies to improve air standards and reduce emissions. From air quality monitoring, modelling and mitigation. Close working relationships with Clean Air Zones, National Highways and leading City Governments, as well as DEFRA, and Department for Transport. 
• Sustainable Buildings: Advocates for energy efficiency, lifecycle decarbonisation, Energy Performance Certificates and biodiversity net gain in building design and development. Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government are regular guests. 
• Water Resources: Engages with legislation like the Water (Special Measures) Act, and Amp 8 and promotes sustainable urban drainage drainage, catchment management, and climate resilience. Close working relationship with OFWAT, Environment Agency and Water Companies. 
• Environmental Noise: Focuses on noise monitoring, mitigation, and health impacts. Collaborates with social sciences and health bodies to improve standards. 
• Climate Change: Co-chaired by Rebecca Pow and Mims Davies MP, this group drives policy advocacy, innovation, and education to combat climate change. These meetings take place in the House of Commons.
