    The 11.7 eV sensor lamp is a notoriously difficult lamp to manufacture. Due to its highly sensitive nature, 11.7 eV devices in the past have been temperamental, require frequent lamp changes and ultimately end up with increased environmental exposure, affecting performance of the device.

    ION Science has tackled this issue and developed a refined manufacturing method that eliminates some of the sensitivities and issues previously associated with 11.7 eV detection.

    As the first 11.7 personal detection solution from ION Science, the Cub 11.7 offers all the features a customer would expect from the market leader.

    This includes resistance to humidity and moisture, operational in temperatures from 0-55 degrees, and intrinsically safe even in explosive environments. Its lightweight design at only 111g makes it comfortable for wearers and the small size doesn't impede movement or work.

Royal Mail goes large for electric vehicles with EDF deal

Royal Mail Group Ltd, the owner of one of Europe's largest fleets, has signed a deal with EDF in the UK to deliver electric vehicle infrastructure. This will support Royal Mail Group's aims under the Optimise Prime Project – the world's largest commercial electric vehicle project.

edf  royal mailThe three year framework will see EDF provide charging points, associated maintenance and ancillary items such as signs, bollards and wheel stops. The initial scope for this agreement will see chargers installed on Royal Mail Group sites in the South East of England, with potential for this to increase as required.

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director for Customers at EDF, says: "The fact that the largest fleet operator in Europe has committed to such an ambitious project is a turning point in our journey to a low-carbon future.

"Working with Royal Mail to install EV infrastructure at their UK sites will allow them to accelerate towards an electric future, and hopefully inspire other businesses to follow suit."

Paul Gatti, Fleet Director at Royal Mail Group, says: "As we continue to realise our EV ambitions, we are careful to choose the right partners along the journey. We chose to work with EDF Energy – not just as a supplier – but also as a solutions partner to implement our new sustainability strategy. Over the three years we are confident that, alongside EDF Energy, we can deliver the infrastructure needed to power Europe's largest commercial fleet of EVs."

EDF in the UK generates low carbon electricity from eight nuclear power stations, more than thirty onshore wind farms and two offshore wind farms, and operates one of Britain’s biggest battery storage units, one gas and one coal power station, EV charge-points, and combined heat and power plants. In the UK, the company employs around 13,000 people at locations across England and Scotland.
